Our Story

Our Story

Art Angels Market began in the mid 90’s…

… as a small one room shop on Lake Eola in downtown  Orlando. Renee started with gifts, jewelry, gift baskets and flowers. As business grew and as the area developed, Art Angels moved across the street, expanding to twice its size. Business continued to grow until the economic downturn of 2008. After a tough few months, to reduce size  (and rent) Art Angels moved down Central Blvd and into a book store called Urban Think. There it resided for a few months until the bookstore closed.  Dormant for a few months, the current concept, involving other inhouse dealers, was developed and Art Angels Market was reinvented, moving into the old Guitar Den location on South Orange Av in the spring of 2010. Through long hours and plenty of hard work, Art Angels grew, making new acquaintances and friends all along the way. Along with boutique items such as jewelry, notions and accessories, trademark artistic floral creations, and unique custom made gift baskets established in the downtown store, antiques and funky junk were added and currently rule the domain.

Upcycle, recycle and reuse

… are the heart of Art Angels Market.

Routine trips are made to frequently scour established and new sources throughout western North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia, for fresh treasures to bring south to the Art Angels Market showroom. Many items are “Barn Fresh” or “Farm Fresh” and not found in the Central Florida area anywhere. Many items readily available are perfectly suited for your own project ideas. Art Angels Market us usually well supplied with architecture items such as antique house or business doors, barn doors, old style paned windows, corbels, balusters, spindles, and iron works. Accent items such as wood crates, apple crates (especially from Barber Orchards in WNC), hand made tool boxes, trunks, shabby and cottage style furniture, including several pieces painted in house, are constantly displayed in the Art Angels Market showroom. Art Angels Market is also “Shabby Wedding Central”, with items like bird cages, chandeliers, silver plated items, ball jars, shabby white chairs, candelabras, vintage linen, old suitcases, mirrors, small tables or stands, and glassware usually readily available. Of course, many of these same items are also purchased to accessorize the home/office and for college student dorm rooms.

Antique Dealers Love Us!

We also have many dealers who visit Art Angels Market frequently on their annual trips to Florida.  We are especially grateful for our local friends, many of whom visit the shop once or twice a week, always looking for that new thing from us or from one of our dealers. Aware that items can come and go quickly, our regular shoppers know that it pays to visit as often.  We are well aware that we could not be the destination we’ve become without you and other friends like you, and we sincerely appreciate your patronage and participation so far in our first 3 years. We also plan and hope that you will continue to visit the store and that Art Angels Market will continue to grow and add new friends for years to come. THANK YOU for being part of Art Angels Market.
